Poem on Motherhood

‘Coddled’
‘Spoiled’
‘Clingy’
‘Needy’

How about:

‘Nurtured’
‘Responsive’
‘Securely attached’
‘Interdependent’

It’s not easy mothering
In a judgmental society
new research on behavior
Seems to surface perpetually

I sometimes question my own actions
Even though I trust my inner guide
While quarreling over parenting styles
Nature never lies

It’s Mother Nature I’ll always look to
No fallible biases
Just nurturing & life force
And biochemistry

We think the next ‘expert’
Is the one that we should trust
We don’t choose to look within
We rarely trust our own gut

No one can decide for you
What’s right for your own child
Not the expert nor the school
I know that may sound wild

They don’t have your synced up nervous system
Or your intuition
They didn’t grow that baby inside of them
Or bring their life to fruition

There’s not many things I’m certain
but this one I just might
Don’t ever question a mother
Because she’s always right.💖
