Miracles Do Happen
Thank you @martharecoveringoutloud my Sober Mom tank fits these wires perfectly lol! Love! My new home till baby arrives! I’m so grateful to be in the hospital NOT for acute alcohol intoxication but instead to birth a LIFE into this world. ✨Miracles do happen!! To those that have been checking in on me and baby, thank you SO much! I was admitted early to be monitored until c-section- (tentatively 16th), due to a condition i have called Vasa Previa. I wanted to try to explain what it is in an effort to bring some awareness to it because it is so rare that they don’t regularly screen for it; It only occurrs in roughly 1 in 3,000 pregnancies. The scary part is if it goes undiagnosed it is a 98% fetal mortality rate! However, with early diagnosis and management the rate of live birth flips to that of a “normal” pregnancy. Very grateful to my wonderful doctors that caught it! Typically, the umbilical cord attaches to the center of the placenta but in my case it is attached to the amniotic sac with baby’s unprotected vessels running up to the placenta (VCI). The danger is if these vessels run over the cervix (baby’s exit point), which mine are.
Those vessels are baby’s blood vessels so if I were to spontaneously go into labor or start any labor contractions, those vessels would rupture and baby would bleed out within minutes. Because of this I need to deliver him early; before my body has the chance to go into labor on it’s own (and be close to OR in case I do). So far I’ve been fairly calm & optimistic but now that I’m getting closer the nerves are starting to set in. Any prayers that baby makes it out alive and well would be SO appreciated! I love you guys and all of your messages of encouragement and support has meant the world to me (and baby)!! 💙💙💙💙 Thank you @shafferwoman for walking me through this terrifying process! #vasapreviaawareness On a lighter note, my dr. Just came by and as she was leaving looked at me and said “shower daily pls” 😂😂😂
